The ports of Odesa remain the principal gateway of Ukraine’s foreign trade, and even under martial law and blockade the maritime corridor keeps working: war-risk insurance, routes that skirt the zones of fire, and a new logic of freight have become the everyday of the sector. Shipowners, forwarders and terminal operators take decisions daily at the crossing of maritime law, the sanctions regime, currency regulation and customs rules, where the price of a legal error is measured in an arrested vessel or a halted cargo.
